Welcome to the Graduate Studies Division of the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at Villanova University.
The department offers a master's degree in Theology, as well as the opportunity
to achieve a combined bachelor's and master's degree in the Five-Year
B.A./M.A. Program.
The program emphasizes a broad understanding of the Christian theological
tradition as mediated through the questions raised by modern culture and
responded to by the Second Vatican Council and by the continuing challenges of
human life. It aims to prepare students for doctoral study or secondary school
education, to provide further foundation for those in educational or ministerial
leadership, and to enrich the Christian life and thought for those in the
professions.
The diverse courses that are offered by our
faculty
include the Hebrew Scriptures, the New Testament,
Early Christian Thought, the major doctrinal themes of Christian tradition, and
contemporary philosophical and ethical concerns.
